Jane Lee (Singapore)

MOUNTAINEER.  SPEAKER.  WRITER

Jane is a mountaineer extraordinaire from an unlikely place.

Having grown up in Singapore, Jane happened upon her first Himalayan trek to Annapurna base camp at the age of 18.  At basecamp she looked up and wanted to go higher and further - and her passion for the mountains was born.  Jane led the Singapore Women's Everest Team (SWET) that successfuly placed the first Singaporean women at the summit of Everest in 2009.  From there she set her sights on the famed Seven Summits, scaling the highest peaks on each of the seven continents.

On June 17th, 2011 Jane summited Tanzania's Mt. Killimanjaro.  That was number six for her.  She followed that with a successful summit of Russia's Mt. Elbrus on July 4th, 2011.  That put her into the record books as she became the first Southeast Asian woman, and 37th female in history, to have completed the Seven Summits.  And likely the first person ever to eat Cheetos, her climbing treat of choice, on each mountain.  Not bad for a 27-year-old from Singapore where the highest "peak" is 165m (564ft).

Jane is far from being a uni-dimensional climber, or one to rest for long after a big accomplishment.  So, what's next for her, aside from climbing?  Graduate school at Yale, continued motivational speaking engagements, work on a book that promises to be atypical in the climber lit genre and - if we're lucky - a bit more Khunu product testing and modeling.
